The 2025 trekking season in the Palatinate Forest has ended. The last overnight stays took place on November 1, 2025. The season will resume on April 1, 2026. Overnight stays are not possible during winter months, even upon request.

Trekking site Hauenstein is one of 15 basic trekking sites in the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve, accessible only on foot. It offers four tent pitches, a fireplace, and a simple toilet hut. Visitors must bring their own water and provisions.
